AFRC provides consultancy, research and technical services to the forest products, building and construction industries.

With over 100 years of combined experience amongst our staff, we offer services in a range of areas, including:

  • Evaluation of the resistance of materials against attack by wood destroying insects.

  • Evaluation of the resistance of materials against attack by fungi.

  • Fabrication of experimental engineered wood products e.g. plywood & LVL.

  • Treatment of materials with preservative chemicals.

We also conduct our own research to improve our understanding of the mechanisms underpinning material durability and to improve research and testing methodology.

Our aim is to assist industry to validate the efficacy of its new products and facilitate their entry into the marketplace in a seamless and timely manner.
